BOE Important Announcement

Dear TUFSD Community,

As the 2018-2019 school year comes to a close, the TUFSD is on the cusp of some big changes.

With the recent resignation of Jason Schrammel and retirement of Nancy Teed, the Board of Education has made the hiring of new Administrators our top priority.  After careful consideration we have decided to consolidate the administration by combining the High School Principal and Superintendent positions.  To this end, a rigorous yet achievable timeline has been established.  Please understand that as the process unfolds, this plan may need to be adjusted.

The District has applied to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as the consolidation must first be approved by the Commissioner of Education.  Based on the size of the District, we do not anticipate any issues and are hopeful that swift approval will be granted.

We understand that finding the right brand of experienced, quality leadership for our unique district is extremely important.  With the help of BOCES and word-of-mouth advertising, several qualified candidates have quickly presented themselves for the position.   Interviews were conducted on June 5 and 6 and two strong finalists have been selected.  Follow-up interviews have been scheduled for the week of June 10 and the Board is hopeful an appointment can be made in the near future.

In the meantime, we have enthusiastically announced the anticipated appointment of Traci A. Ferreira as Principal of our K-6 program in GGM!   The Board is extremely excited about this change and looks forward to working with Mrs. Ferreira in her new position.

Although we are undergoing a lot of changes, this Board has never been more optimistic about the future of our school. Our Faculty and Staff are second to none, and we are committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to build on their excellence.

We also remain deeply appreciative of Ms. Teed and Mr. Schrammel for their efforts on behalf of our children, and for their leadership through this period of transition in the TUFSD.

Please visit the District’s website for updates in the coming weeks.
