The following scholarships are available to George F. Baker High School Senior Class of 2019. Please click on the links to learn more about each scholarship. Read and carefully follow application instructions and note application deadlines.

Scholarships available to the Class of 2019:

Ramapo Valley Rotary Scholarship application must be completed and submitted to Mrs. Oliva in the Guidance Office by Friday, April 5th. The Guidance Office will submit the applications to the Rotary Club. (Attached scholarship packet)

The Warwick Valley Quilt Guild Scholarship is offered to a graduating high school senior planning to pursue an education in the field of fiber art or fine art. (Attached scholarship packet)

The Miles of Hope College Scholarship is available to any college-bound high school senior with a breast cancer association.(Follow this link for details)

The Mid-Hudson Area Retired Teachers' Association Scholarship is offered to a student preparing for a career in education. The student must be in the top 25%, be accepted by a college for the 2019-2020 school year, and show financial need. An essay is required. (Attached scholarship packet)

The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Ita Division 6, Orange County, New York is sponsoring a $250.00 Scholarship for High School Students in Orange and Sullivan Counties who wish to further their education at an institution of higher learning.  Students who are enrolled in parochial, private, public schools in Orange and Sullivan Counties or who are home schooled, are eligible to participate. The Orange County Counselors’ Association Scholarship will be awarding a total of four scholarships in the amount of $750 each to graduating seniors from participating high schools in Orange County.  Two scholarships will be awarded to academic graduates, one to a CTEC graduate and one to a graduating special education student.  (Attached scholarship packet)

 Roy D. Parker Education Scholarship for a minimum of $1,000 will be awarded to multiple students residing in Orange and/or Sullivan Counties who plan to or are currently attending Mount St. Mary College, Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine – Middletown, NY, or SUNY Orange. (Attached scholarship packet)

SUEZ/National Association of Water Companies Scholarship for $3,000 will be offered to five high school students who will be pursuing a degree related to the water utility industry field. (Attached Scholarship Packet)

Association of Fire Districts' Ned Carter Memorial Scholarship for $1,500.00 will be awarded to four high school seniors who must be a firefighter, be related to a firefighter, Fire District Commissioner, Fire District Secretary, Fire District Treasurer or Deputy Treasurer, or Fire District Administrator/Manager, or be an Explorer in a fire department of a Fire District that is currently a paid up member of the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York. Excellence in Nursing Scholarship Essay Contest
for $1,500.00 will be awarded to a motivated high school senior who plans to pursue a career in nursing. (Attached Scholarship Packet)

Community Foundation Scholarships (CFOS)

All CFOS scholarship applications are on an online system called Foundant. Please use this link to apply for Community Foundation Scholarships. Students will be prompted to create a secure username and password that is unique to them. This will keep all of their information secure and private during the application process so that they may leave applications and return to complete them at a later time. This will also assist us later on as we prepare award letters and payments for the selected students and schools.

The Orange County Youth Football and Cheerleading Scholarship for $500 will be awarded to four graduating seniors in Orange County. The criteria and amount is predetermined pursuant to the donor’s instructions in the attached Scholarship Packet.  (Attached scholarship packet)

Skoda Family Scholarship Fund at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Sullivan County for a minimum of $500 is available.  Preference will be given to a Sullivan County graduating high school student planning to attend Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA and major in Agriculture. Orange County graduating high school Seniors who plan to attend Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA and major in Agriculture may apply with the understanding that preference will be given to graduating high school seniors in Sullivan County.  (Attached Scholarship Packet includes:  Criteria and link to apply.)

The Ian Bennett/Situation Cares Memorial Scholarship for $2,000.00 will be awarded to one graduating senior in Orange County.  The criteria and amount is predetermined pursuant to the donor’s instructions in the Scholarship Packet.  Interested candidates for the Ian Bennett/Situation Cares Memorial Scholarship must submit their artwork, essay and application electronically to http://www.situationcares.orgSubmissions sent directly to the Community Foundation office will not be considered. The Al Romm Interdisciplinary Journalism Scholarship for $1,000.00 will be awarded to one graduating senior in Orange County. The criteria and amount is predetermined pursuant to the donor’s instructions in the Scholarship Packet.  (Attached Scholarship Packet includes:  Criteria & link to apply.)

 E.J. Szulwach Environmental Scholarship for $1,500.00 is available to two graduating seniors in Orange County. The criteria and amount is predetermined pursuant to the donor’s instructions in the Scholarship Packet. (Attached Scholarship Packet includes:  Criteria & link to apply.)

The Charlie Reichle Memorial Scholarship for $1000.00 will be awarded to one graduating senior in Orange County or Liberty Central School District. The criteria and amount is predetermined pursuant to the donor’s instructions in the Scholarship Packet.  (Attached Scholarship Packet includes:  Criteria & link to apply.)

Ed Vandercliff Scholarship for the Bill Perry Memorial Fund for Music Scholarship for $1,000.00will be awarded to one graduating senior in Orange County.  The criteria and amount is predetermined pursuant to the donor’s instructions in the Scholarship Packet.  (Attached Scholarship Packet includes:  Criteria & link to apply.)

TEG's Joyce A. Betros High School Senior Scholarship for $1,000.00 will be awarded to three graduating high school seniors from Dutchess, Orange, or Ulster County high schools who have demonstrated academic achievement and community service throughout their high school careers. (Attached Scholarship Packet)

2018 scholarship offerings are listed below for informational purposes:

St. Mary's Scholarship: to be awarded to a George F. Baker High School graduate to be used towards their college or technical school tuition. Deadline is May 24th.

Orange County Tavern & Restaurant Association Scholarship: Annual scholarship awards to graduating seniors who plan to attend an accredited college as a full time student in the food and beverage industry. The student must be an American citizen, a resident of Orange County (or a child of a member of the association), must have attended the high school from which he/she will graduate for a minimum of two years, be deserving and in need of assistance. Deadline is April 30, 2018.

2018 Patsy Pellegrino Scholarship: $500 to a deserving George F. Baker High School senior. Criteria: student of Italian-American heritage, overall high school GPA of B or above, plans to pursue a college education following graduation from high school, outstanding moral character, a teacher or school counselor's strong recommendation.
Deadline: April 15, 2018.

Mid-Hudson Area Retired Teachers' Association Scholarship: Four scholarships in the area of $3000 each will be awarded to seniors enrolled in area high schools within MARTA. Qualifications are: rank in the top 25% of graduating class, be accepted by a college for the 2018-2019 school year, plan on a career in the field of education, and be in need of funds but ineligible for significant federal or state aid. Deadline: Student must submit to Guidance Office by March 26, Guidance must submit to MARTA by April 10.

Orange County Municipal Planning Federation Memorial Scholarship: An annual $1000.00 scholarship for a High School Senior who has been accepted to a college and is enrolled in a program. Curriculum that would satisfy this award is varied with applications that may lead to a career in planning. The award is for one year and each year a different candidate would be chosen. Applicants must be a resident of Orange County. Deadline: June 4, 2018.


Association of School Business Officials:
 $500 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior from Orange County. Students must be in good academic standing, planning a post-secondary course study in the field of business, finance, and/or education and be in a Mid-Hudson ASBO member district whose business official is a member in good standing for the 17-18 school year. Deadline: Friday, March 2, 2018.

Shepard Coleman Performing Arts Award: $1000 cash award is given to an Orange County resident to be applied toward the cost of furthering education in the performing arts. Minimum age is 16 years old. Applications must be postmarked by May 1, 2018.

Orange County Counselor's Association Scholarship: Four scholarships in the amount of $750 each to graduating seniors from participating high schools in Orange County. Two scholarships will be awarded to academic graduates, one to a CTEC graduate and one to a graduating special education student. Deadline: March 14, 2018.

SUEZ/New York Chapter of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) Scholarship:  $3,000 scholarship to 5 NY high school seniors pursuing a degree related to the water utility industry field - It is being offered to all NY high school seniors who meet the following criteria: US citizen, a NY resident for 5 years, high school senior pursuing a degree at a college or university (2 or 4-year) as an undergraduate student (part or full-time), maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA, enrolling in a curriculum related to the water utility industry or related fields. Students should return the application by March 31, 2018.

National Honor Society Scholarship: Scholarships for National Honor Society members.  


Fireman's Association of the State of New York: Applicants must be actively participating as a volunteer firefighter or junior firefighter or participating in a volunteer EMS program.

Excellence in Nursing Scholarship: To enter, you must be a senior at a high school in one of the following counties: Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster or Westchester.

NYSIR Scholarship Program: Specifically developed to reward the efforts of special education students, seniors interested in design, and students who have demonstrated serious involvement in humanitarian activities.

Joyce A. Betros High School Senior Scholarship Program: Eligible applicants must be a TEG Federal Credit Union member or  have a parent/guardian who is a TEG member.
