Important Message from the Superintendent

Letter from the Superintendent
News

Dear Parents & Guardians,

In light of the horrific tragedy that occurred yesterday at a high school in Parkland, Florida, I would like to extend my condolences to all those who were affected by this senseless act. When something happens like this, many questions are asked and it is a very difficult time to attempt to make sense of why it occurred.

Please know that in the Tuxedo Union Free School District, the safety of our students, staff and visitors in the buildings is our number one priority. The administration of the District works closely with local law enforcement officials, as well as regional law enforcement teams, and BOCES safety coordinators to ensure appropriate safety protocols are put into place and executed. The staff and students at each school building have participated in a variety of safety drills and the District has a safety plan that is updated annually that includes security measures.

During this time it may be difficult to find the appropriate words to talk to your children. Our school psychologist and guidance counselors are available to speak to you or your children should you desire to do so. Below are links of available resources that may be helpful to you as you engage in a dialogue with your child.
