(TUXEDO, NY) The Tuxedo Union Free School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Jean-Paul, Ed. D. as the new principal of the George Grant Mason School. The administrative appointment was approved by a unanimous vote during the August 16 Board of Education Meeting.
Dr. Jean-Paul joins the George Grant Mason Elementary family after most recently serving as Principal of Upper Nyack Elementary School in Rockland County. “Dr. Jean-Paul is an established educator and a proven leader,” said Superintendent Jeffrey T. White. “The George Grant Mason School is recognized as one of the best elementary schools in the state. I am confident Melissa will build on that success as we introduce new curriculum and social emotional learning programs in our classrooms.”
Prior to her leadership role in the Nyack Public School District, Dr. Jean-Paul served the community of Washingtonville as a middle school and elementary school assistant principal. Before entering school administration, Dr. Jean-Paul served for nine years as a primary-level general education teacher, where she developed thematic units in reading, math, social studies, science and language arts. Early in her career, Dr. Jean-Paul worked as a Special Education classroom teacher/itinerant teacher for a Middletown, New York organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Dr. Jean-Paul received a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Manhattanville College and a Master of Science degree in Special Education from SUNY New Paltz. Her undergraduate studies include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Marist College.
Dr. Jean-Paul begins her new role on August 28.
