Good Morning Tuxedo Families,
It seems that every day bring something new, and today is one of those days. A week ago we were conducting orientation and getting ready to start remote instruction. Throughout the summer, you have heard me talk about the need to be prepared to pivot. Today, we did just that. Our teachers pivoted to teaching from home and I’m hearing this morning has been a seamless transition. So a big thank you to our faculty and staff for being prepared and pivoting on a moment’s notice.
Today, (had we been in school) we would be participating in the ANNUAL COUNTY-WIDE 15 MINUTE EARLY DISMISSAL DRILL. The purpose of this drill is to plan for a potential emergency situation where your children might need to be dismissed early. Since 9-11-2001 there have been many new drills instituted to ensure school, family, and community readiness for an emergency situation.
This drill provides an opportunity for parents and children to discuss your family contingency plan. It’s important for your children to know what to do in the event of an actual early dismissal from school. This drill also serves as a reminder to check in with the main office and make sure we have updated/current email addresses and telephone numbers on file. Our new daily COVID questionnaire pulls from SchoolTool every night, so if there is a change in email/telephone, we will have the correct information.
I know some of you may be saying it seems a bit silly to do an early dismissal drill when the students are already home. Even though students are already home, this drill serves as an important reminder to have those critical conversations at home and make sure the family has a plan in the event of a real emergency.
Therefore, our school day will end at 2:33PM (as opposed to 2:48PM) today. All remote instruction sessions will also at 2:33PM.
Thank you and be safe.
Sincerely,
Tim Bohlke
Superintendent of Schools
