GFB students in grades 7–10 recently had the opportunity to attend a meaningful two-day field trip at Ramapo College as part of the Safe School Ambassadors program, alongside SSA mentors Anne Castellanos, Michelle Foligno, and Chris Oliva.
During this experience, students participated in engaging, hands-on activities designed to build connections, strengthen communication skills, and foster a supportive school community. One fun activity was an interactive “Get-to-Know-You Bingo” activity that had students up on their feet, learning about one another, discovering shared interests, and forming new friendships.
Throughout the two days, students learned how to recognize acts of mistreatment and practiced practical strategies to safely and effectively intervene. These strategies included balancing situations, supporting peers, reasoning through conflicts, distracting to de-escalate, directing others toward positive choices, active listening, and knowing when to seek help. Through role-playing and real-life scenarios, students gained confidence in their ability to make a positive difference.
We are excited to have two groups of Safe School Ambassadors who will continue meeting regularly throughout the remainder of the school year. We look forward to seeing these student leaders use their voices and skills to promote kindness, inclusion, and positive choices within our school community. This helps to create a school culture where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. #TuxedoUFSD #TuxedooPride #TuxedoSSA

Cultures of the World did a project called, “My family and Our Culture.” Students researched their roots, important cultural information, and foods that are eaten in the area their family came from originally. Each student presented and shared a dish that they prepared. It was a delicious day!🌍🍽️ #TuxedoPride #TuxedoUFSD

Each room was full of teamwork, imagination, and focused fun. Thank you to Ms. K for creating such engaging activities and giving our students a truly special afternoon! 🧱✨#TuxedoUFSDSTEM #TuxedoPride #STEMinschools

Mrs. Jones’ Government class examined current issues in America and the role of political cartoons in conveying opinions and influencing policy. The Seniors researched three issues of their choice at the local, state, and national levels. As part of a design challenge, they created three political cartoons to represent issues such as school lunches, environmental protection, the allocation of tax money to programs, healthcare, and international relations. Each student presented their research, slide show, and drawings to the class. Keep up the hard work seniors! 📚#TuxedoUFSD #TuxedoPride

Our Books and a Break assembly, led by Mr. Johnson, celebrated creativity and imagination! Students enjoyed listening to Harold and the Purple Crayon and were inspired to use their imagination to create something new, just like Harold did all throughout the story. 💜✏️Using their own purple crayons, they created unique stories and sounds with shapes, lines, and pictures, showing that creativity can begin with just one crayon and a big imagination. A simple purple crayon turned into endless creativity and smiles for all! ✨#TuxedoPride #TuxedoUFSD

We proudly celebrated students who showed generosity and gave back to our school community during our Books & a Break assembly!
